One of the of the best parts of this league is playing against 17 different managers. As I played Strat as a kid, the biggest league I was ever in was 6 including myself. The use of Skype/Dice Roller has changed the way many people play as well as saving transportation time & costs. Currently, we play 12 managers, or 2/3rds of our opponents only once a year in the regular season.
I bring this up for 2 reasons. The Goats & Vandals were 1 out away from playing a 5th series last year which would have had us play 20 - 23 games. God knows that I love playing the Goats and we have an awesome rivalry that is always FUN no matter which side wins. But, playing almost 20% of ones games against 1 team in a league of 18 guys is a bit much.
Just looking at our current mini divisions, we play 32 out of 104 regular season games against just 2 managers. That's over 1/3rd of our games.
I think we are all very smart guys and can come up with a way for us to play a variety of teams/managers which gives us more opponent options throughout the year.
I think we should have a few proposals to look at during our meeting. I provided one as an option which would ask that everyone think about just splitting us into two divisions of 9. Playing your division 2x (8x8=64) and the other division once. (9x4=36). A pretty simple 25 series 100 game season.
I'm not sure the best way to do this, but I know we can come up with a way to play more managers more than once a year.

Pete, I like your realignment idea.
One of my favorite parts of the league is playing against different managers. Any realignment that has the Goats playing more teams, more often had my support.

I'm pretty easy going with this kind of stuff, but there is something neat about our system that loosely mirrors the MLB with divisions and leagues. If I'm in the minority on this, not going to make a stink. My two cents..

Im willing to give our current system another try so Im going to support leaving it as is, with some realignment based on new managers coming in. I think we should concentrate on filling the ranks up to 18 active teams, and keeping the managers we have before making any changes or even rules changes at this time. The idea of the mini divisions was to try and make the gaming easier for all the managers to get games in on time. The old way wasnt working in this respect. In the MLB teams play their division alot more than outside divisions, I dont have an issue with us attempting to mirror this. Im perfectly fine with playing most of the managers just once a year as even that can be a challenge to set up in a timely manner every season.
